Top Racing Games of 2020

Top Racing Games of 2020

Racing games have come a long way since started playing them. I think the first racing game I ever played was 'Road Fighter' which actually came out before I was born. Road Fighter launched in 1984 and became quite popular. Another game from that era was 'Excite Bike'.

This was the standard of games back then and we use to be glued to these games for hours at a stretch. There was left and right buttons, gas and brake. But no one ever needed to press the brakes. The option of changing the view was something that wasn't invented yet.

Excite Bike allowed us to design our own track and that was beyond us.

So when Need for speed came out with a video of cars racing at the beginning of the game as it launched. That was so futuristic. I remember having 20 friends at home the day I got it because graphics of that game were beyond belief.

You could tell if it was a Ferrari F40 or a Mclaren F1.
And when I got the Need for Speed 2 SE and Andretti Racing, I thought, graphics cannot get better than that. But we have come a long way since then.

Today's Racing games have such good graphics that at times one cannot tell if its a real video of a real car or if it is computer-generated graphics.

The Lens flare, the water, the glare, the smoke, the skid marks, the clouds, the view, everything... Just adds to the whole experience. So in this blog, I am going to list the top Racing Games of 2020. So without any further ado, let's dive straight into it.

1. F1 2020
Though Formula1 2020 season has shortened and delayed due to the current situation of the pandemic. The game is Amazing. The graphics improve every year. But the technical regulations are nicely captured in the game and the AI has improved to very realistic behaviour. AI makes realistic mistakes under pressure and the game also allows you to drive all the historic cars and also shares the history of Michael Schumacher's cars. Damage and pitstops strategies are very realistic as well. If you are a F1 fan this game is must-have.

2. Forza Motorsports 7
I have been a fan of the Forza Motorsports series since the first game. The realistic damage of the 1st and the 2nd game quickly made me lose interest in Gran Turismo and get into Forza Motorsports. Not to mention all the visual upgrades and mechanical upgrades the game had to offer. If you prefer realistic driving and a racing simulator styled game this is the right game for you. With a collection of the most famous circuits from around the world and the best possible graphics in a racing game this game definitely is my favourite.

3. Forza Horizon 4
Equally good graphics as the Forza Motorsports 7, but a laid back, fun Arcade styled driving game is what you want then look no further. Forza never disappoints. Just when I was started thinking that all racing games are pretty much the same apart from minor differences Forza Horizon 4 definitely raised the bar not only with its graphics but also with the changing seasons and changing driving conditions due to the changing weather. Moreover, Forza Horizon 4 has got it all and the online gameplay is very entertaining with its seasons.

4. Need for speed Heat
Before, 'Need for speed Heat', the last Need for Speed game that swept me of my feat was Underground 2. Since then Need for speed has left a lot to desire for. But With Need For Speed Heat it seems that have tried to go back to their old roots and have created an epic game that makes us fall in love with street racing all over again.

5. Moto Gp 2020
Moto Gp games have always been a hit or miss. Graphics have always been good and have improved game after game. But the riding feel of each game has been a hit or miss. Moto Gp 20 has been a hit. The career mode has been deeper than ever. And riding assistance of the game is good for beginners that can be tapered down as you get used to the game.

6. Project Cars 2
One of the best games apart from Forza Motorsports to be played with a steering wheel and pedals. Weather options are a lot of fun as you can customize it to your liking. For example, you can drive around the track on the Dubai Desert in a blizzard which you would never get to see or experience for real. Audio realism is excellent.

7. Assetto Corsa
When Assetto Corsa decided to launch on Xbox One and Ps4, there was a huge debate amongst players saying they are going to dumb the physics down for the Xbox and PlayStation. But to everyone's surprise, the physics are very realistic, just a smidge below the Pc version. The only problem is its not as fun as Forza Motorsports as it doesn't have liveries or everything that surrounds the game to make it fun. But if it's just realistic physics you are looking for then Assetto Corsa is for you.

Now I could have a made a list that was top 10 or top 20. But I didn't want to slap on names of games that weren't even worth playing. So there are no honourable mentions and only 5 games on this list.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this list and if was useful in your next game purchase. Let us know what you think, or if there had to be a game on this list that we missed.
