Top ICONIC Classic Convertibles

Imagine the country roads of surrey or back roads in the south of France through the wineries. Wind in the hair and the sound of that carburated engine spitting fire through the back. Raw power without the electronics harnessing it. The sun shining on that Tag Heuer Monaco. Sun hitting your hands through the perforated leather of your driving gloves. And this Rosey Picture needs a proper car. And there are very few convertibles that have turned into Icons to fit this pretty picture. Let's check out some of the most iconic convertibles ever built.

1. 1958 Corvette was the second generation C1. It's one of the most Iconic American cars. Posters of it are found around the world in American dinners alongside Marylin Monroe.
A lot of celebrities like black eyes peas, George Clooney etc still have this American Icon in their car collection.

2. Although 1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL's couple (gullwing) version is more popular the convertible is very iconic. For the 1950s the german design gave the Italians a run for their money, in terms of pure beauty. A very popular Mille Miglia car. People try to make replicas of it till date.

3. Talking about replicas, the 1957 Shelby Cobra is the most replicated car today. The Cobra with a 427 motor was the fastest production car once upon a time. A factory five replica definitely makes it to my wish list.

4. 1969 Mustang convertible is as much as an American Icon as the C1 Corvette. The Shelby Mustang GT500 more popularly known as Eleanor made the normal Mustang more desirable. Today Mustang and the Pony logo are Iconic and again a part of majority of American Dinners around the world.

5. 1950 Jaguar xl120 roadster is least iconic in this list and that is because, this British Icon is still as iconic as others, amongst collectors but no celebrity or movie has made this car super popular yet.

6. 1950 Bmw 507 was Owned by the great Elvis Presley. And this German Icon is the car the Z8 was made after. In fact, all Bmw roadsters can be traced back to this car.

7. 1961 Jaguar E-type needs no introduction. The Original E-type is rare and a collector's piece but a recreation/replica of it is more commonly seen. The E-type in British Racing Green was the most beautiful thing of its time.

8. And the most iconic from the stables of Italy is the 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti. It fetched a whopping $35 million at the last auction making it the 3rd most expensive Ferrari ever sold at an auction.
